Belgrade 26th November 2014 - Reconstruction of 11.5 kilometres of road between Krupanj and Korenita, damaged during the May 2014 floods, will be funded with 4.5 million euros, a grant allocated by the European Union through EU Assistance for Flood Relief in Serbia Programme.
The construction process commenced last week and will be carried out in stages until June 2015, and will include landslides recovery, regulation of riverbanks of the Kostanicka River, reconstruction of bridges and ducts, establishment of drainage system, as well as roadway renovation.
The state road from Krupanj to Loznica suffered a significant damage during May floods with landslides and torrents damaging roadbed and roadway. The EU-funded project envisions drafting of a detailed plan for road and landslide reconstruction, as well as construction works, that would help to prevent the impact of possible future floods and heavy rains.
The road rehabilitation project is implemented by Public Enterprise "Putevi Srbije", on the basis of grant agreement signed with United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), and funded by the European Union.
