BEWARE Project
The expert teams of the State Geological Survey and the Faculty of the Geology and Mining of the Belgrade University are working on the landslide registration and description, necessary for further analysis and creating hazard and risk maps of landslides in the municipal territory. The experts will also build skills of the local administration to monitor their identified landslides and will provide equipment for the implementation of these skills.
The Harmonization of Landslide Data and training of municipalities for its monitoring: BEWARE (Beyond Landslide Awareness) Project is funded from the generous donation of the Government of Japan, through the United Nations Development Programme UNDP “Increased Resilience to Respond to Emergency Situations”. This Project implemented in cooperation with the Government Office for Reconstruction and Flood Relief and the Ministry of Energy and Mining of the Republic of Serbia and the 27 municipal administrations.
Main objective of BEWARE project is enhancing municipal capacities/Civil Protection offices in 27 municipalities in Serbia with necessary equipment for effective landslide event reporting, as well as building capacities among the regional/local authorities/Civil Protection staff for landslide event reporting.
Other activities are: development of a public BEWARE GIS web portal as a platform for interactive landslide event reporting, and unifying landslide data records, identifying critical sites for landslide rehabilitation and improvement of governmental agencies practice in building/updating national landslide database from BEWARE.
